What this search shows
Each result comes from New York's public register of active corporations and LLCs, published by the state on data.ny.gov and refreshed about daily. You see the exact name on file, the DOS ID, the county the company is registered in, when it was filed, and, where listed, its registered agent and the address the state mails legal papers to.
For LLCs we add the publication deadline, 120 days from filing, and for every company the month its next biennial statement is due. We don't save your searches.

Is this the official New York business entity search?
No. The official search is run by the New York Department of State. This tool reads the state's own public register, published on data.ny.gov and updated about daily, and adds the dates the official search leaves out: the 120-day publication deadline and the next biennial statement.
What is a DOS ID?
It is the number the Department of State assigns to every corporation and LLC when it is filed. You can search by it here, and you will need it on most state filings.
Why can't I find my LLC?
The register lists active entities only, and a brand new filing can take a few days to appear. Try the first word or two of the name, or search by DOS ID. If it still doesn't show, check the Department of State's own search.
Does this show whether my LLC has published?
No. The state's register doesn't record publication. It does show when your LLC was filed, so we can tell you when your 120-day deadline is or was. If you're not sure whether publication was ever done, look for a Certificate of Publication in your records.
When is my biennial statement due?
Every two years, in the calendar month your LLC or corporation was first filed. Search your company above and we show the next due month.
Can I check if an LLC name is available?
If no active entity uses the name, that's a good sign, but it isn't a guarantee. The Department of State decides availability, and names that are reserved or too similar to an existing one can still be refused.
