Refund Policy
Effective August 6, 2026. Simple version: what you paid for, delivered — or your money back. The sections below cover each service we sell, cancellations you start yourself, and the limits of the guarantee.
LLC publication
Our 100% money-back guarantee
If we fail to deliver your complete, ready-to-file Certificate of Publication packet — or the NY Department of State rejects your filing because of an error we made (wrong newspaper, defective notice text, missing affidavit) — we'll re-publish at our own expense or refund your entire payment, not just our service fee. That's stronger than the industry standard, and we mean it.
Cancelling before your notices are submitted to the newspapers
Cancel any time for a full refund — 100% of what you paid. Publication begins only after a human reviews your order, so there is a real window to change your mind. Email us and we'll confirm the cancellation same-day.
After submission, before the 6-week run completes
Once your notice has been submitted and paid for at either designated newspaper, those costs cannot be recovered from the papers. We'll refund everything except the newspaper costs actually incurred.
After publication completes
Once both six-week runs have finished and affidavits are being collected, the service has been substantially delivered and the order is non-refundable.
Biennial Statement filing
Before we file
Cancel any time before the statement is submitted to the Department of State for a full refund, including the $9 state fee. Nothing has been spent yet.
After we file
Once the statement is filed, the $9 has gone to the state and cannot be recovered. The filing itself is complete and non-refundable at that point. If we file it incorrectly — wrong address, wrong entity — we correct it and pay any further state fee ourselves.
If the state rejects it
If the Department of State refuses the filing for a reason within our control, we refund you in full. If it is refused because of information you gave us that turned out to be wrong, we will tell you exactly what to correct and re-file once at no additional service fee; the state's $9 is payable again because the state charges it again.
Certificate of Good Standing
If the state won't issue it
Full refund, including the state fee, if the Department of State declines to issue a certificate for your entity. The usual cause is an overdue Biennial Statement, and we check for that before ordering precisely so this does not happen — but if it does, you are not out of pocket.
Before we order
Cancel before we place the order with the state for a full refund. After the certificate has been ordered and issued, the state's fee is spent and the service has been delivered, so it is non-refundable.
Expedited processing
Expedite fees are the state's and are passed through at cost. If the state fails to meet the processing window you paid for, we refund the expedite portion. We do not refund expedite fees for delays caused by information you supplied.
Applies to every service
State fees are never our margin
Where we collect a state fee — $9 for a Biennial Statement, $25 and up for a Certificate of Good Standing — it is remitted to the Department of State in full and is shown separately at checkout. Where a state fee is not collected by us, such as the $50 Certificate of Publication fee, you pay the state directly and we never touch it. Refunds of state fees are possible only where the money has not yet been spent.
What the guarantee doesn't cover
Rejections caused by inaccurate information you provided — for example, an LLC name that doesn't match Department of State records character-for-character — aren't covered, though we'll help you fix and re-file at cost. This is why we check your entity against the state's own register at checkout and show you what it found.
We also can't refund a change of mind about whether you needed the filing at all. Publication, biennial statements and certificates of status are requirements set by New York, not by us; if you are unsure whether one applies to you, ask before paying and we'll tell you honestly, including when the answer is that you don't need us.
How to request a refund
Email support@cheapnypublication.com from the address on your order. Approved refunds are returned to your original payment method within 5–10 business days.
